Council Associate
Austin, TX
The Council Associate will assist their team’s Council Managers in identifying top-tier experts and consulting partners for recruitment, proposing speakers for and assisting with the execution of GLG’s events product, and conducting outreach to encourage existing GLG Council Members to participate in GLG News communities and GLG’s other interactive products.
GLG’s Council Management team for the Americas region is located in Austin, Texas and organized into the following Councils practice areas:
- Healthcare
- Energy & Industrials
- Consumer Goods & Services
- Technology, Media & Telecom
- Real Estate
- Financial & Business Services
- Accounting & Financial Analysis
- Legal, Economic & Regulatory Affairs
Specific responsibilities include:
Contribute to the development and continued evolution of the Council’s interactive product portfolio, including:
- Identify potential speakers for participating in regular small-group meetings between Gerson Lehrman Group clients and Council Members
- Identify and help execute Education Seminars featuring top-tier consulting and market research firms (www.glginstitute.com)
- Assist with arranging domestic and international research trips to relevant regions
- Plan and execute email and telephone outreach campaigns to encourage participation on GLG News, GLG’s proprietary online publishing platform (www.glgnews.com)
Recruit and manage relationships with new, high value Gerson Lehrman Group Council Members:
- Develop personal relationships with key industry executives, influencers and thought leaders, while engaging them to participate in Gerson Lehrman Group consulting products
- Pitch participation in GLG Member Programs to existing Council Members
- Assist Council Managers with developing and managing formal partnerships with global consultancies and market research firms in the sector through the GLG Council Partners program
Manage and organize the global membership of the Councils, using Gerson Lehrman Group’s proprietary technology:
- Analyze and develop a deep understanding of the sector and relevant value chains to help classify Council Member expertise and leverage the Council effectively
- Using knowledge of the sector and client activity, identify strategic population needs for recruiting
- Educate internal staff about industry trends and expertise in the relevant industries
- Work closely with Council Management teams in India, China, Europe as well as Research Management teams in Asia (Hong Kong), Europe (London) and North America (Boston, New York, San Francisco) to facilitate ongoing development and effective deployment of the Councils
Candidate profile:
Potential candidates possess:
- Bachelor's degree with a GPA of 3.3 or higher from a leading university or equivalent work experience
- Between zero and two years of post-undergraduate professional experience, preferably related to one of the industries in the sector
- Excellent communication skills, including demonstrated proficiency in oral, writing and presentation abilities in a business-focused setting using a variety of communication channels (telephone, e-mail, in-person, etc.)
- Passion for the industry
- Interest in building an Internet-driven business
- Demonstrated ability to create and develop working relationships with senior professionals in the field
- Proven ability to work in a fast-moving, team-based work environment
- Ability to hit deadlines and manage long-term projects

Evaluation, Compensation and Benefits:
Following is an initial estimate of compensation and benefits for this position. The final compensation structure depends on many factors and these numbers are subject to change.
Salary: Competitive base salary plus year-end performance-based discretionary bonus Healthcare: United Health plan and Metlife Dental Insurance Vacation: 15 days per year plus New York Stock Exchange holidays
