GLG Topic: Specialty Merchandising

Specialty Merchandising is the procurement of goods for sale by a niche retailer. These retailers cater to a customer base that is segmented either by region, demography, or product mix. Purchasing for specialty retailers is difficult due to the fact that they are not able to maximize pricing and supply-chain efficiencies the way a major department store or big-box retailer can. Specialty merchandising includes the following products: jewelry, sporting goods, greeting cards, tools, and toys.
