Given the marginally small difference in price per share offered by IBM and ORACLE for the SUN bid,one can speculate as to the rationale why IBM had second thoughts and also why IBM pulled out of the deal having seen SUN's strategy for a better bid from Oracle. I strongly disagree with comments from Oracle CEO ( Ellison ) that this takeover enables Oracle to be "the only company that can engineer an integrated system - applications to disk ".
