That more people died in the "tight" control group is true, but was it tight control that was responsible or could it have been the means by which it was controlled?  It was not rosigitazone (Avandia) or hypoglycemia responsible for the deaths, according to the articles (the scientific article...

I beleive that this  announcement is premature and more about being too preacutious in the present litigenous environment. Sevral variable factors may responsible for the outcomes and not just the strict glycemic control.

There is no loss here with fosamax going generic. The most to gain will be the PBMs and managed care as this will be the bisphosphinate to order.

Galvus was not approved in a once per day 100 mg version for Europe, which puts it as a disadvantage to Merck's Januvia. To boot, there are liver testing requirements that will also be a drag.
