This was a retrospective analysis. The use of statins clearly show benefit and decreased mortality in  the number 1 killer of Americans-cardiovascular disease. It is still unclear, and this study highlights this, that there may be a threshold level which we should not  surpass....

An interesting association, but clearly NO cause and effect. This should be looked at prospectively. The benefits noted from statins are definitive.

Despite the FDA not pulling Avandia from the market, it seems that with the legal landmine that physicians practice in, many will be hard pressed to use the drug. One will have  to asses cardiac risk, and all diabetics are already felt to have the same risk as someone who has already had a heart...
