1. Cypress Semiconductor has introduced PSOC 1 devices with enhanced analog performance. This should help with the adoption of these devices in touch screen phones, appliances, automotive applications, etc.2. Over the last few years Cypress has obtained hundred of design wins with it's PSOC family of devices and has obtained design wins with at least 5 of the leading cell phone manufacturers.

1. Per this article and other commentary in SEA, it appears that TSMC is going to invest $46M in setting up a product line to make LED's for the lighting market.2. The $46M to be invested in setting up this line represents a substantial sum of money that could benefit equipment manufacturers such as Aixtron and Veeco.

1. Cree's purchase of a large facility in China to manufacture both chips and components is a strong sign that Cree believe that its surge in business will continue in the future.2. The Chinese LED market is a significant one with the Chinese government subsidizing the cost of LED fixtures. In addition, many of the Cree's U.S. based lighting customers are manufacturing in China.3. The article says chip manufacturing and not phosphor deposition which is critical IP in manufacturing white LED's.

After its merger with Fujitsu, Toshiba is now the largest manufacturer of mobile hard disk drives (HDDs) (2.5 inch and 1.8 inch HDDs). Toshiba is also the largest manufacturer of 1.8-inch HDDs and the company has just introduced a HDD in this form factor with 320 GB storage capacity. This 2-disk 1.8-inch drive offers the highest storage capacity in such a small package and will enable more consumer and mobile computer applications
