Since the 1970s, corporations are required to meet environmental regulations in air, water, solid and hazardous wastes etc. Over the years, many companies eventually developed strategic plans to implement pollution prevention, that is reduce wastes at the beginning of the manufacturing process rather than at the "end-of-the-pipe" which led to cost-savings of the product. In the 21st. century, companies will eventually lower their carbon emissions by environmental sustainability practices.
