November 17, 2009
J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. Announces Eastern Rail Deal | markets.on.nytimes.com
Truckers traveling via train? Yep, the smart ones do so with increasing frequency. Earlier this month, J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. announced that its already successful “Secret Formula” for Intermodal success will henceforth include much more of a current ingredient, one known as “NSC” or Norfolk Southern Corporation, which reported Intermodal revenues for this year’s 1st nine months of just slightly less than JBHT’s $1.2 billion of Intermodal biz. for the same three quarters.

Buffett: Railroad business is 'in tune with the future' | www.usatoday.com

In real life however, railroads are rarely cheap compared to their earnings and the STB will keep anyone from owning more than one. So why would such an astute investor as Warren Buffet purchase one?

J B Hunt (JBHT) Gets S&P 4 Star Buy Rating But Showing Bearish Technicals | www.marketintelligencecenter.com
Working quietly from deep within the beautiful but rather remote corporate offices of J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. in peaceful Lowell, AR, a sharp and select group of savvy truckers & financial wizards have, together, written, tested, and applied a “Secret Formula” that is now consistently generating trucking company revenues, operating margins, and net incomes, the likes of which have never before been accomplished in the otherwise dull and now financially beleaguered North American commercial freight transportation world!
The LTL market truckers once knew will never return!

LTL market remains in a state of flux | www.purchasing.com
Gone are the "good old days" of high-margin LTL (less than truckload) freight transportation. At its burial, many now laid-off union members, disheartened officials of union benefit and pension funds, once successful LTL executives, and many former vendors to the once-prosperous industry kindly paid their respects, then gathered together over cocktails and worried about their own futures.
