A 12 year follow up study in Canada recently proved that local control and toxicity was equivalent in 3 weeks of radiation (hypofractionated) verses 5-7 weeks of radiation.

Tomotherapy may do well after all with newer bells and whistles introduced at ASTRO 2008. Protons are likely to die leaving investors with a huge bill and dwindling ROI. Short course breast radiotherapy is not worth the risk.

A single payer, national system does work, but may not necessarily be in the best interest of all parties.   Yes this type of system is 'free' to the users, but is funded through higher taxes than paid in the US.
