Men are frequently taking advantage of advances in facial rejuvenation. They desire to maintain a youth appearance to outwardly reflect an energy and cutting edge image that is vital to maintaining one's marketablility in a competitive workforce. They frequently enjoy the benefits of BOTOX and injectable filler materials. Some are also having aesthetic plastic surgery performed to reverse some of the signs of aging.
Non-Surgical Nosejob is not a Nosejob and not Risk-free

Nonsurgical wrinkle filler wins by a nose | www.shreveporttimes.com
Rarely, if ever, will a non-surgical modality be able to deliver the same results as a surgical procedure. The use of an injectable filler material (e.g., Radiesse), is no different. Without question, its use is not "risk free."

Patients want to minimize signs of aging, look natural, and minimize downtime while maximizing results. Therefore, people are often choosing to have treatments such as BOTOX, injectable fillers, and mild skin resurfacing which require little downtime.

Sculptra(TM), new cosmetic dermatology treatment, creates long-lasting, natural-looking results | www.newswire.ca
Sculptra (poly-L-lactic acid) is used to provide volume to areas where there is a lack of fullness. This is not a "filler" of lines or grooves - it helps to enhance volume over time.
Laser liposuction - not worth the risk...just yet

Cosmetic surgeons aim lasers to melt away fat | www.app.com
Laser liposuction is a new technology which has not, in my opinion, yet been proven to be superior to conventional liposuction. The potential benefit of less bruising and swelling following "laser liposuction" is outweighed, in my opinion, by the risk of the patient incurring burns from the laser. I am aware of cases in which patients of board certified plastic surgeons have suffered burns following the use of "laser liposuction."

Cosmetic Plastic Surgery "Mommy Makeovers" on the Rise | www.plasticsurgery.org
Patients of all ages want to look their best. Women who have children and/or have experienced fluctuations in weight frequently desire to improve their overall appearance. Common concerns include breast size, breast shape, and "pouches" of the abdomen. These concerns are especially common following pregnancy. Plastic surgery can help address some of these concerns.
Medicare should not pay for unsafe care

Hospital-borne ailments face Medicare budget ax | www.indystar.com
Medical errors and nosocomial infections continue to be on the radar despite several years of heightened attention and regulatory prodding. There has been no requirement or incentive to document how much of each patient's cost is due to avoidable errors or complications. It makes sense that Medicare and other payers should not have to pay for the "mistakes" of caregivers. Most healthcare organizations, patients and caregivers alike should agree with this development in principle. Like with most bureaucratic policies, however, the devil will be in the details.
Doctors should consider patient out of pocket costs

Doctors fail at fiscal prognoses | www.orlandosentinel.com
Increasingly patients are being hit with higher out of pocket costs and it is a sad, unfair reality that patients might have to balance necessary treatment against the financial burden they might incur. Doctors have a role in educating patients on the cost of alternative treatments offered. The problem is that for many modalities, physicians are no more aware of out-of-pocket than patients are.

Getting a Discount on Plastic Surgery | online.wsj.com
Discount cosmetic surgery is already here, but not via large commercial companies. Retention of actual plastic and reconstructive surgeons may be difficult if they are not paying well. There is a place for this, however the solo practitioner will continue to have word of mouth and a place.
