I am not quite sure what to make of this announcement. The cable giant is not a wireless carrier now. What makes it think it can build a system and operate it?
Cox may need a wireless partner.

The belief that telecom will survive is not folly. Remember that telecom is infrastructure.

Large carriers like Verizon will remain largely unscathed. Small independent carriers will not be so lucky.
Telecom vendors who are cash poor will not survive the recession either not well or not at all.
