GLG News by Handset Sellers: Wireless Retailers and Resellers
Analysis of:
Leap, MetroPCS make nice (telephonyonline.com)
No wireless carrier model is going to affect wireless in the near future more than the Metro PCS and Cricket/Leap model of unlimited, flat-rate, pre-paid calling without a credit check.
Both are the masters at it with Metro being the leader and eventually post-paid carriers will have to follow the...
Analysis of:
Text-Messaging Rates Come Under Scrutiny (online.wsj.com)
Text messaging along with other data services is key to post-paid carriers profitability today since their market is so saturated. Carriers know this and are using it to advance their income by doubling rates from 10 to 20 cents per message unless a subscriber is on a monthly data plan. ...

Sprint eyes sale of Nextel's iDen network (news.yahoo.com)
If Sprint sells their iDEN network about the only positive for Sprint is that it would give them sorely needed cashflow. But I think it would also make Sprint even less signigicant of a player in the wireless industry than they already are.
Analysis of:
Verizon Says iPhone Has Had Minimal Impact (www.ipodobserver.com)
I think that Verizon will be much better off in the long run than AT&T Wireless due to Verizon's better business model. Verizon not having the iPhone, AT&T having great last quarter results, then Verizon topping that proves my point.

Teen Market May Be Running Out of Gas (www.wirelessweek.com)
Wise investors will steer clear of MVNO's, unless they are hoping for some short term gain, as the days of MVNO's are over for various reasons.
Analysis of:
The Decline of the Mid-Market Cell Phone (www.businessweek.com)
I think the article is stating their opinion and being too vague and/or general. The article needs to differentiate between post-paid subscribers who require credit checks and contracts and pre-paid, flat rate subscribers that do NOT require a credit check or contract. I think the numbers...
Analysis of:
Embarq CFO reiterates plans to shutter wireless MVNO (www.rcrnews.com)
Another blow for Sprint and another blow for MVNO's, all which are struggling in this post-paid carrier dominated market. Competition and options in wireless are dwindling at an alarming pace.
Analysis of:
Deutsche Telekom May Bid for Sprint Nextel (online.wsj.com)
Making T-Mobile the largest carrier in the world over Verizon would not be good for the U.S., since their owner Deutsche Telekom is a foreign corporation. The most logical scenario would be, should be an American company.
Analysis of:
Growing customer base boosts Verizon 1Q profit by 9.8 pct (ap.google.com)
Providing the previous writers figures are correct, Verizon since initiating their $99.99 unlimited plan has seen a growth of 4 to 13% in wireless revenues. AT&T Mobility has seen similar growth. I don't see this impacting them negatively in the next quarter for many reasons.
Analysis of:
Court Supports IPCS in Fight With Sprint (money.cnn.com)
If Sprint keeps up it's track record of boneheaded corporate decisions, it could be on it's way out. Since it's CDMA, Verizon would be the ideal candidate to purchase and/or takeover Sprint, which would bring large, post-paid carriers down to three nationwide.
