1. Cypress Semiconductor has introduced PSOC 1 devices with enhanced analog performance. This should help with the adoption of these devices in touch screen phones, appliances, automotive applications, etc.2. Over the last few years Cypress has obtained hundred of design wins with it's PSOC family of devices and has obtained design wins with at least 5 of the leading cell phone manufacturers.

Many PC makers are not including optical drives, especially for laptops and netbooks. Leaving out optical drives is being done not to reduce cost but to allow slimmer laptop and netbook computers. Flash memory with built in programs and entertainment content are now on the market in USB as well as memory card formats. Downloading content and applications has become more common, replacing one of the big uses for optical drives in computers. As flash memory $/GB declines and as write speeds for flash devices improve will these devices replace current optical disk physical distribution formats?

1. Approximately 2 years ago Cree purchased Cotco a China based LED manufacturer which allowed Cree to expand it's product offering. With the release of the X Lamp R MX-6 device in the PLCC package, Cree now has a product that should allow it to successfully compete against Nichia and Osram who have been some of the market leader for PLCC lighting LEDs.
