Vaniqa's effect on laser hair removal
Analysis of: Laser Hair Removal Enhanced With Eflornithine Cream | www.medscape.com
Author: Sunil Dhawan, Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology, Stanford University
I do not believe that Vaniqa will have a negative effect on Laser hair removal as its efficacy is only temporary. In fact we use it as an adjunct for patients with resistant areas. Its use may actually enhance the use of Laser devices as they offer permanence. The products use may be increasing as more...

Dermlex Launch
Analysis of: Advitech to finally launch Dermylex in US | www.nutraingredients-usa.com

Melafind
Analysis of: Digital Diagnosis: New Tool for Detecting Skin Cancer | www.ehponline.org
Author: GLG Expert Contributor
Depending on the accuracy and cost of the technology, this device could be a useful and welcome tool in melanoma diagnosis.  To be considered useful, the Melafind device must increase melanoma recognition without a significant false negative rate.  In other words, the machines ability to catch...

Modus product-?efficacy
Analysis of: No Hydroquinone, Means No Worries for Modus. Dr.’s Applaud Europe’s New Import To Fight Signs of Aging | www.rushprnews.com
Author: Sunil Dhawan, Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology, Stanford University
The new Modus product "without hydroquinone" cannot be fully evaluated on the basis of the currently available information. Decisions based on the opinions of a "Beauty Editor", and 6 years worth of studies with only 4 patients, are tenuous at best, and laughable at worst. It will be difficult to unseat...

Already here....
Analysis of: Getting a Discount on Plastic Surgery | online.wsj.com
Author: Michael Bain, Plastic and Reconstructive Physician, Michael A Bain, MD
Discount cosmetic surgery is already here, but not via large commercial companies.  Retention of actual plastic and reconstructive surgeons may be difficult if they are not paying well.  There is a place for this, however the solo practitioner will continue to have word of mouth and a place....

FDA ban on Hydroquinones
Analysis of: FDA May Place Ban on OTC Bleaching Creams | www.carefair.com
Author: GLG Expert Contributor
I have yet to see any study that would prclude me from recommending these products. I believe if utilized correctly and dosed appropriately it would be a disservice to our patients if the ability to prescribe this were taken away.
