I could not agree more that people should have a choice and maybe the pricing markey is the US will finally drop after how it see it will work all pharmacies across the country. The manufacturers need to be held responsible for this issue, they caused it with raising prices and making more of a profit. They should join in with the oil industry these two make a good pair on how to rep off the consumer....

I can understand how mail order can allow for some savings for payors. But personally as a physician and daughter of older parents, they can be a little ridiculous. Just last week I received a fax asking that I change a proton pump inhibitor from Brand A to Brand B for a patient so that the PATIENT could save on his copay. Mail order fallacy.

The number of mail order prescriptions dispensed in this country continues to rise. The major retail pharmacy chains all own or have a financial interest in the the PBM/mail order drug business. Large corporate benefit managers are beginning to question some of the dubious practices of PBM's.

Good for the consumer-the death knell for the local pharmacy

Mail order medication allows one co-pay for 3 months of medication as oppossed to 3 co-pays. The cost overall is likely less as well. The push to generics will also decrease costs for the patient. How can the local pharmacies or even some of the larger chains compete? They cannot.
