WiMAX has already missed its window of opportunity in the US market. The cellular carriers are on their second wave of wireless data services and will be well on their way to a third (LTE) before WiMAX is out of the starting gate. The opportunity for WiMAX (i.e. fixed WiMAX) will be developing countries where it will provide and basic broadband Internet access.
