The once-vaunted IMAX Corporation has hovered near bankruptcy in the past, only to be rescued by its capitulation to displaying upconverted 35mm movies on large format screens. Now, with digital 3D promising a compelling event-type experience for movie-goers, the IMAX folks need a new trick. The obvious choice is digital IMAX, in 2D and 3D flavors. But will it work? Not likely.

The market place is far from finding a saving grace in 3D, it's still a novelty and will remain one for sometime to come. The lack of any one agreed upon format for 3D leaves the industry little or no chance of main streaming the products. If they get it together and work for a common goal, by combining their efforts, someday maybe it will be more main stream. It's a not a short term...
