Flickr might be crazy, but crazy like a fox. It could be gaining some good advantages from its deal with Getty: the possibility of an up-front payment; all the usage data during the partnership, as a deep market test; and brand extension that will likely lead to even more uploads to Flickr and close the door further on any competitors in the amateur photo market.
