Multifocal IOLS are In their Infancy

Mutifocal iols are currently used to try to correct distance and near vision.  While patients are often pleased by their improved near vision without glasses, many complain of poor optical quality for distance vision.  Due to great out of pocket costs and poor quality of vision under some circumstances, these lenses will have a very slow impact on the cataract market.

Effect of Accommodative IOL's on the Multifocal Contact Lens Industry
