Xiaflex will dramatically replace surgery

This analysis is solely the work of the author. It has not been edited or endorsed by GLG.
Analysis By:

Implications: The efficacy of Xiaflex to not only open up the bent fingers of Dupuytren's, but its ability to diminish recurrence will dramatically decrease surgery rate for Dupuytren's.

Analysis: This study is valuable in showing the efficacy and potential for Xiaflex.  Patients had dramatic improvement and there were minimal complications.
The surgical treatments of Dupuytren's is much too invasive and Xiaflex provides a viable non-surgical alternative.

Repeat treatments will be necessary for new areas that arise and this treatment should also work for Lederhose disease (Dupuytren's of the feet) and Peyronies disease (Dupuytren's of the penis).
