Will this entry on the Macau resort area lead to a new building boom???
Analysis of:
MACAU MEGARESORT | www.lvrj.com

Implications: What direction will the building of this mega property have on future resort construction in Macau. The bottom line is, it can only enhance the area's future. Not that it needs much help at this point. The question that should be on our mind - can they train the majority of the day trippers to stay over night?
Analysis: Sheldon Adelson is at it again. No matter what you may think of this talented man, he is an innovated force in the hotel and casino industry. He has always had splendid plans for his company and has made sure that his ideas are carried out. He opened some new vistas with the Venetian in Las Vegas. He wanted to reach out in a different manner for the large resort he built. Relatively speaking, he decided that his room revenue at the Venetian would be as important, if not more important than his casino. He built larger, beautiful rooms and demanded a higher prices for them. It was an innovated idea as a casino, up to this point, took precedence over all other functions of a property. The Venetian proved that to be a bit of a farce. Since he was the master of Convention Business prior to the building of the Venetian - he decided to make sure that the convention business was a major factor in his planning.
The Macau Venetian will be every bit as over the top as his Las Vegas venue. The difference is that his casino will be much more important then the hotel. It stands to reason that the Macau player is generally a day trip person that will take his shot and return home until his next day trip. The problem that I see will be how to train their guests to stay over and commit to some new ideas. The very real project will be to market other Asian and European countries to come to Macau. It's great to have rooms available, however, if no one stays in them, is it a lost cause? It is, if their marketing is not done in the correct manner. They need to make it look like this is their answer to the Las Vegas strip. Can that actually be done? It certainly can and I suspect it will be.
The opening today of this Macau resort will test some different waters - can they be a success - it's a sure thing - it might take a bit more time to fill the rooms, but it's the wave of the future for this gaming arena called Macau...........
