WHAT IS THE THINKING OF THE MISSOURI LEGISLATURE TO KEEP A LOSS CAP OF $5OO ON CASINO PLAYERS

Implications: My best guess is that when this cap was placed on player loss their really was no thought of the future of gaming in Missouri. It would make investment by outside sources think twice prior to supplying big bucks to the industry there. It would certainly limit growth at any rate.

Analysis: The real rub of this coin is, what were they thinking when the looked to have a loss cap of $500. First it does not give the player an even chance to get his dollar investment back after a loss. Remember the saying that there is a sucker born every minute. Must be a fact in Missouri, because I can't think of any serious player who would indulge in this type of limiting play. It really serves no purpose except to ease the conscious of the powers to be that allowed this to pass. How are the casinos expected to expand, where is the revenue supposed to come from - how can they attract serious play if their is big brother watching all the time. Seems to me that an adult should have the capacity to judge what his or her losses should be - not the State or gaming commission.

When you think about a cap on loss you might wonder why an investment group would want to invest where profits are secondary. The State is also dropping revenue by a reduced tax base. They would certainly be behind the eight ball asking for increased taxes without allowing the casino industry to operate at full capacity. A cap, in my estimation is not they way to increase business or stimulate an industry that could grow and thrive. There are lots of people out there that want to gamble. It's not hard to detect a trend in the U.S. that has casinos being built in ever increasing numbers. It seems that Missouri has stifled this growth and must take a step forward to allow gaming to go on as other States do. It can only help the economy, promote business in a very good industry and add to the tax base.

It time for Missouri to stand up and smell the roses.... A loss cap really helps no one - they must allow adults make their own decision on gambling - will there be some people that drop more than they should - the answer is yes - it still up to them to control their own destiny in a casino.......... LET THE CAP R.I.P
