Summary

Adamas has a proprietary mixture of three drugs: amantadine, oseltamivir and ribavirin to treat antiviral resistant strains of novel H1N1 Influenza A.

Analysis

These three drugs are already FDA-approved, and available for clinicians to prescribe.  Additionally, antiviral testing is not usually done, other than by specialized public health labs.

The decision to use these drugs will be based on health authorities announcing the widespread presence of resistant strains.

It's unclear how important this will be after the current flu season has passed and there is broad population immunity to novel H1N1.

Oseltamivir  ==>  Roche

Ribavirn (generic)  ==>  Sandoz, Teva, Schering Plough

Amantadine (generic)  ==>  multiple manufacturers
