Analysis of:
What now for wireless? | www.rcrwireless.com
This analysis is solely the work of the author. It has not been edited or endorsed by GLG.
Implications: WiMAX as a Niche Technology
Use of Unlicensed Bands Here, There, and Everywhere
Newer Frequencies Bands (4.9, 700MHz, etc.) in General Use
Targeted Broadband Bandwidth
Do It Yourself
Analysis: The growth of wireless will continue unabated with the recession accelerating the emergining trend of 'do it yourself'. Large companies, especially industrial businesses, will use all available technologies and frequencies to lower their telecom operating expenses while making their workers more productive with more bandwidth and network capabilities. The new techologies of WiMAX, 802.11n, etc. will be combined with the many frequencies now available--unlicensed bands, 700 MHz, 4.9 GHz--to create entirely new networks for use by these companies. And the carriers will be seen and used as a 'network of last resort.' Targeted broadband bandwidth is the key buying requirement going forward.
