The Black box warning of the Calcineurin inhibitors is faulty
Analysis of:
Black Box Warning for Topical Calcineurin Inhibitors and the Death of Common Sense | www.medscape.com
This analysis is solely the work of the author. It has not been edited or endorsed by GLG.
Implications: I totally agree with this article. The conclusions from the FDA are incorrect, and the data appear to indicate that the TCI's are actually protective!!!! In any event it has created a false sense of a problem, where none exists, and decreases the use of these agents, which are safer than the existing steroid therapies!!!
Analysis: I disagree with the warning. The conclusions are faulty, and the data suggests that the TCI's may actually be protective against cancer!!! I still use these agents both alone and in combination, and have found them to be useful, and probably safer than topical steroids!
