THE LOSS OF A BRANDED PROPERTY IS ALWAYS A SAD NOTE FOR THE CASINO INDUSTRY

Implications:  Does this hotel have a chance in today's casino market? The possibility of making the Hooter Hotel into to a winner will be a large undertaking. It's had, a less than stellar reputation over the past few years. The new owners seem to be trying by renaming and updating the property. It's a hefty project.......

Analysis: In most instances the loss of a brand trade name would be a hard pill to swallow. In the case of the Hooter's Hotel in question, it may be the only salvation for this property. Having recently been in the property for a look through, I wondered how they were able to do any business at all. It was the most unappetizing hotel that you could possibly imagine. It had the feel of a skid row joint that barley was surviving. It was dirty, the restaurants (that were opened) could have just as well stay closed. Their marketing program was almost invisible and their staff attitude was hard to fathom. Their clientele that I could see was out of line and no one seemed to care. It was defiantly not the hotel that would be my choice to send a friend to. NOW - having said that -what is in store as the new owners plan to make a viable property out of this otherwise ugly place???

My hope would be that this hotel be put back in order - they need to spend some serious bucks just to bring the public areas into this century. They also need a very real effort to reestablish their rooms to a point of at least semi top shelf. The food and beverage needs a very serious going over with the customer in mind this time. Entertainment, even on a local level would be a big improvement. It's imperative that they get the proper management that is aware of how Marketing works. They need to approach both local and tourist trade to survive.

It's how much they are willing to invest to make this property a resounding success. Remembering that this was never the best Las Vegas had to offer, however, there is a niche for this type of property. The new owners need to grasp the needs of the their potential guests and make every effort to maintain a solid balance........... enough said
