THAT MAY BE THE UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE YEAR
Analysis of:
MAGNITUDE OF CITY CENTER PLAN IS ENOUGH TO LEAVE YOU SPEECHLESS | www.lasvegassun.com
This analysis is solely the work of the author. It has not been edited or endorsed by GLG.
Implications: The magnitude of the City Center Project, now under way in Las Vegas, will astound the tourist population. It will also place other main line hotels planning future development to alter plans. This will be the wave of the future for the gaming industry in the Las Vegas Market. We are hearing from the nay sayer's letting off puffs of ridiculous metaphors about how impossible it might be to have this project be successful. Rubbish, or maybe I should have put that entire word in capitals. Not only will it be successful - it will usher in a new wave of enthusiasm for tourists to visit this great city. It will be a boundless resource for years to come.
Analysis: Nay sayers aside, the thought that Bobby Baldwin may not have the where with all to handle such an immense project - can't be serious. He is one of the most talented, knowledgeable and most perfect person to get this project off the ground and see it through to is completion. He was the go to man for Steve Wynn for many years for some great projects. He has an excellent eye for detail as seen in the Mirage, Treasure Island and Bellagio. Steve has always been credited with being the force behind the upgrading of Las Vegas and that's very true - Baldwin was at his side all of time. Don't count Baldwin out, he is a very real talent.
New ideas seem to always have a way of placing negatives in the front of proposed projects. Remember how the industry was saying it would be impossible for The Mirage to make the grade? They thought that the debt service would kill the property within six months. It was a winner from day one. That's the direction you will see Project City Center going - it will be a top priority for the tourist trade from around the world. MGM Mirage has the most solid marketing program in gaming. They will lend all their efforts to make this new project a resounding success.
Just as a side note, MGM MIRAGE is using environmentally friendly building materials where ever possible. They are trying to save some bucks on construction while staying friendly with the environment conscious public. This is a can't lose project - it will have it all - this will be a much anticipated opening for the entire gaming industry...
