Summary

1.  Sprint’s relationship with General Electric started over 20 years ago. 2.  US Sprint at the time was awarded a contract by GE for various landline services. 3.  Sprint’s present CFO has some useful past associations himself.

Analysis

The CFO of Sprint Nextel, Robert Brust, worked at GE for over 30 years.  He was also CFO and EVP of Eastman Kodak Company for several years.  Of course, Kodak was mentioned in an earlier Wall Street Journal piece as a company that Sprint has been talking to for potential wireless business.

Now the source article points out that Sprint and GE Healthcare will be provid[ing] a converged wireless system for six Texas hospitals.  The two companies are collaborating together on other opportunities as well.  A big one involves offering improved in-building wireless coverage for hospitals.  This service is being offered across the US.  Another joint project involved setting up networking between hospital patients, staff, and families.
