Singapore to Develop Solar Power
Singapore has decided to spend more than $110 million for clean energy development, in particular solar power. While California could really get into the solar business, Singapore will follow a very focused path to success with research and manufacturing expertise. “Focused” is the main ingredient, while California dabbles in all kind of renewable energy projects without concentration on real business and manufacturing goals.
Analysis:
While California has rejected the chemical industry, Singapore developed a world class integrated refinery & chemical industry on Jurong Island. The focused support of all government agencies of Singapore attracted the leading chemical and refinery companies of the world. An enviable success story.
Singapore is also the center of advanced computer technology and manufacturing. For example, HP has a major research and manufacturing presence in Singapore.
Being close to the equator and constant sunshine around the year, Singapore is the ideal place to advance solar energy to the next step of affordable renewable power for all consumers around the world.
The concentrated effort of the Singapore government - when they have decided on a development task - is unsurpassed in the world. The scientific, research, manufacturing and business development talents and resources will be marshaled to another success story.
We should applaud Singapore to lead the way to advances in solar power that will be affordable by all consumers in the world at favorable solar incident locations.
