Private Equity PAC
Analysis of:
BlackRock Net Triples | online.wsj.com
This analysis is solely the work of the author. It has not been edited or endorsed by GLG.
Implications: 1) Soon - if not immediately the rush to public capital will create the rush of public officials into the Private Equity firm. 2) There are monster companies out there with very little public oversite or regulation... how long will this last?
Analysis: We have seen the rush of 'Private' conversions to 'Public' - at least a percentage of the private moving public. These monster funds of capital have navigated very nimbly and profitably by moving a public entity private. Now... the very vehicle used to untie public strings is in itself going public. For the sake of cheaper cost of funds, perhaps.
This has opened the floodgates of public review. Many major monsters in the Private Equity world already have VERY VISIBLE politicians on board.
One recent Private Equity Firm assignment incudes recruiting a registered lobbyist. This portends a very different skill set than smelling profit.
How much longer will 'Private Equity' be private... if their toes are in the public sand?
