Summary
This trial showed predicatably good results for Enbrel in patients with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. This included improvement in signs and symptoms and quality of life. This will increase sales of Enbrel in the short term. However the two newer agents, Humira and Stelara have better efficacy, and more convenient dosing regimens. Both will be doing similar studies.
Analysis
The company most affected by this trial is Amgen , whose sales will increase. This will be a temporary increase as the two other agents , Humira ( Abbott), and Stelara( Cetocor- Johnson and Johnson)will see sales increases as well. This is due to their more convenient dosing and higher efficacy. Both will also predictably show good results in symptom improvement and quality of life. The only difficulty for Stelara is that it is a newer agent in a crowded field, and insurance coverage is an issue. Centocor has already set up an insurance help line for patients and dermatologists and this should enhance acceptance.
