Summary

Years ago we watched technology leap into Europe. Eastern Europe acquired support to build a modern technology highway and out ran West Germany. Around 1999 we predicted that laptops would become what we called (Netcard PCs). Reality is here. The netbook products are moving in that direction. We always worried about who would control the networks and the speed on the networks. I believe that Netbooks are the beginning of a new tool to promote using online software and storage to eventually move away from local storage and software. During this process you will see the cost of using the airways increase up to $60.00 a month for high rate speed and space. This could cost up to $1500.00 a year to do the same thing we are doing locally with about $600.00 of cost to access the internet with high speed . Through this transition we can expect the control of data and privacy to increase. The corporate industry is paying up to $100K to monitor employees on social networks even today.

Analysis

We just need to have a look at things like Google alert and 3rd party companies that are controlling and monitoring communication. Will we finally have a privacy law that will protect the consumer against possible negative job liability? Who is writing the rules? Do we want the internet to turn into a huge vacuum for stealing data and monitoring conversations? The next issue is using personal traits through social networks to create better advertisement impact. I would be bold enough to say that without disclosing the hidden agenda behind the search engine and the social networks we should not allow luring networks and search companies to use us to profit more through advertizing.
