Summary
There is no question that bariatric surgery works. However, long term outcomes are not yet available. Strict criteria are used prior to allowing such surgery. Compliance is needed thereafter.
Analysis
Diabetes can be "cured" by weight loss surgery.. Compliance is needed. Side effects exist. We have a problem with obesity in this country. Without true desire and will power, the surgery may in the long run only be a short term solution. What long term outcomes and complications will be are totally unknown.
