Implications: Lilly will likely get front line approval for Alimta in non small cell lung cancer Most patients with advanced disease never see a response to therapy

Analysis:  Yes it is major for Lilly and less for the patients. Lung cancer unlike others has a reputation for needing to get the drugs approved front line as a majority of patients decline or don't qualify for subsequent lines of therapy. Remember, we still don't see a majority of patients respond to first line therapy in this disease and even though this will likely result in Lilly's Alimta getting first line approval in the US we have a long way to go in making exciting news in non small celll lung cancer.
