Summary
More good results for enbrel in psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.
Analysis
Enbrel is a great drug, it works really well for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. We've know this for years. The PRESTA trial basically reaffirms this. Quality of life measures improve as well according to this study. I don't feel like this is new information. Improvement in enthesitis and dactylitis is interesting, but again not earth shattering news as far as I can tell. I don't think this study significantly pushes physicians to prescribe more Enbrel because most Rheumatologists and Dermatologists already accept the efficacy of Enbrel and other TNF blockers in the treatment of Psoriasis. On the other hand, the longer safety data that Enbrel presented recently may increase new prescriptions for Enbrel, in particular when comparing against the newer anti-TNF entrants.
