Summary

The implmentation of new technologies such as virtualization, social networking, cryptography, web 2.0 tools and services, and authentiation technologies bring new security challenges.  Data leakage is still top of mind with CISO and CIO.

Analysis

New information technology capabilities benefit the enterprise but also expose new security vulnerabilities.  The introduction of virtualization within enterprises has led to considerable cost savings, but now the insecurity of this technology which promised complete security is coming to light in the attack community.  The furthur implementation of web 2.0 technologies such as wiki's, blogs, authentication schemes, and advanced cryptography solutions have also expanded the surface area of threat and challenge for enterprises.

The use social interacting technologies has expanded the concerns for data leakage since sensitive information is now finding its way onto these technolgies via wiki's, blogs, and sms and instant messaging technologies.  With the introduction of advanced search capabilities internally and externally to the enterprise has made it very easy for the general user to query for this data and find this information in these new solutions.
