Implications: How does this impact Access IT and Screenvision?
Analysis: With its successful deal-making with Kerasotes and Marcus, NCM now has 5 of the top 10 exhibitors in the US, with ~76% of the screens in the top 10. While Screenvision (JV of Thomson and Carlton) matches NCM in overall screen count. it appears that NCM has the theatres with larger audience attendance and box office, presenting high value to advertisers. Access IT, whose shift in strategy has been to move into alternative content supply to cinemas, has a long battle ahead if it is to win screens over its competitors.
