Summary

Mr. Mcwilliams it was a pleasure reading your analysis, but my opinion does differ. In business is the ability to be successful more simplistic or rhetoric oriented.

Analysis

Over the years in business, I've seen many of my friends brokerage firms become successful, and I've seen just as many go bankrupt. Were their any operating differences between these brokerage firms? No, they all offered the same type of transportation services.

The individual’s, who started these companies, were anyone of these individuals smarter than the other? No, they all had M.B.A's from top business schools.

Why do some business's fail and others survive? The niche and trend factor. Education, control, or flexibility won't dictate the outcome in any business. What will? Offer a trendy service or market a product that catches the consumers  eye.

What would I consider trendy, Jamba Juice, Starbucks, Krispy Creme Donuts, and the Adkins Diet to name a few? Would anyone ever consider paying six dollars for a Grande coffee, I would think not but we do.

When these companies were founded, there was no pessimism or optimism, or for that matter any control. These corporations were founded on ideas, and then marketed to attract the young to middle aged Americans.

Does every company who markets themselves in a trendy fashion become successful? No.

Simple reasoning, why is Wal-Mart such a giant in retail, do they provide any different services then their competitors? No, they just hit the niche factor in retail.

I spend allot of time talking to college students about business, and their thought process is the more rhetoric the better opportunity for your business.

In my opinion, business is simple profit and loss nothing more. You can have one hundred million dollars to start a company, but if you don't hit the right  niche or trend, then your ability to survive is slim to none.

Thank You,
Tony Sottile
