Summary
Dermal Fillers are a popular and growing procedure that is poorly regulated. Although problems arise in their administration, it is not clear whether it is due to the product or user technique. That key difference is essential to quantify before issuing warnings
Analysis
Dermal fillers are a rapidly gowing medical procdure that have had little regulation, and extnsive out of indication use. Granted, the indications are narrow and experience n Europe much more xtensive than in th US these fillers are recognized as having excellent safety whe usd properally.Concerns may come from poor training, delayed recognition of complications - most of which may be due to vascular compromise, and widespread use by non physician providers with minimal training. These procedures are well tolerated, in high demand and provide good financial benefit to strugging physicians. Establishing adequate taining & experience, limiting use to physicians and lookng at longer term studies makes more sense than increasing warnings without understanding the cause (product vs tehnique)
