Modus product-?efficacy
Analysis of:
No Hydroquinone, Means No Worries for Modus. Dr.’s Applaud Europe’s New Import To Fight Signs of Aging | www.rushprnews.com
This analysis is solely the work of the author. It has not been edited or endorsed by GLG.
Implications: The new Modus product "without hydroquinone" cannot be fully evaluated on the basis of the currently available information. Decisions based on the opinions of a "Beauty Editor", and 6 years worth of studies with only 4 patients, are tenuous at best, and laughable at worst. It will be difficult to unseat the leaders in this field like Obagi, Skin Ceuticals, etc. The claim that Obagi is irritating is true, but this is generally temporary, and true efficacy is good. Aside from efficacy, the marketing muscle/ studies that these companies have is difficult to overcome. Botanical products are generally sold through salons and non medical aestheticians, where claims are not rigorously or scientifically analyzed, and decisions are based more on marketing and profit potential, and may be less on efficacy!! Modus will need a rigorous study with at least 30 patients or more to show that their product can compete, and a direct study comparing the product with Obagi would be best.
Analysis: This will probably have minimal effect on the market leaders like Obagi, Skin Medica, and Skin Ceuticals, etc, based on my analysis above. Modus will have to do rigorous studies!!!
