Meaningless Survey Yeilds Meaningless Results.
In particular, the Saint Consulting Group is attempting to use this inexpensive form of advertising to promote themselves as the Monitor-of-choice to report on the supposed new phenomena of consumer resistance to new development.
Without revealing any of the critically important elements of their survey such as how the questions were framed, who responded, etc., they expect the Media to take notice of their "1000 PHONE CALLS" to promote their firm as a modern watchdog of consumer attitudes.
Analysis:
The well educated readers of GLG News should not give more than a 10 second glance at this article or the findings of this survey. They are meaningless!
It is very old information dressed up in a new suit. It has no usefulness to any developer or investor in any type of real estate. The entire survey can be summarized in one acronym-NIMBY-(not in my back yard).
For the past 40 years I have been active in developing shopping centers, retail stores, warehouses and suburban offices. I have NEVER met a person who lived near one of my projects to welcome it until extensive groundwork has been laid by demonstrating the tax or other benefits that would result. The knee-jerk response is always NIMBY!
For the Saint Consulting Group to promote themselves by pretending to have discovered the newsworthy idea that suddenly consumers are not in favor of development in their immediate vicinity, is simply an insult to the GLG News reader's intelligence!
