Look for a new start for the land that held the Frontier for so many years

FormerSenior Marketing Executive (former), Venetian Casino Resort Inc
Implications: The new owners have a giant task on their ever growing plate. The recent purchase of the Frontier Hotel and all the land it sit on will be developed very soon. There is a plan to implode the property in the very near future. No doubt, they would like to use the name Plaza but they may find a bit of difficulty doing so. The plans for this property have not as yet been forthcoming, however, they do plan to invest about $5.5 billion into this venture. With those dollars, one could  surmise that the new property will rival the best LV has to offer.

Analysis: The Elad Group from New York with ties to Israel has just recently completed their purchase of Phil Ruffin's "Frontier Hotel & Casino" for the very large sum of $1.24 billion dollars. What a windfall for Ruffin who purchased the property about ten years ago for about $170 million. Guess it's to late to ask Phil if he would like a partner???? The deal has now been completed, however the new owners have still have not been given the green light from Nevada Gaming Commission. They must also pass the California scrutiny. I don't think they will have a hard time of it. It's just a time consuming investigation and something that needs to be completed before they can open the doors of their new venue. There should be no problems for them to get a licence.

So, where do they go from here? It should be an interesting couple of years for them. The cost of construction is rising on a regular basis. It is getting more and more difficult to get experienced labor for all the new construction going on in the area. Dollar amounts that are planned to be invested will certainly be bumped up before it's all over and the the hotel is ready to open their doors. There will be other problems to be faced when they open. How to get casino people that really know their stuff. They might want to actually look into the ranks of some of the veteran executives that have been given the pink slip because of age. I know, that is supposed to be a NO NO, but we all know it happens on  regular basis. A mistake, but it does happen, and there is never a mention of age - it's always something else.

To get right down to it, if they want to be a successful property, they must hire the best of the best. These staffers should have the knowledge of how and why a Las Vegas property becomes successful. Remember, just because you are in the hotel business somewhere else in the world does not mean they can run a Strip property with gaming. This is a very special place with very special circumstances -

After all is said and done this new group should have no problem getting off the ground - the real story will be how they maintain their efforts to be a top dog in a very competitive industry.......
