Summary

1.  The LNG capacity has grown tremendously in the last few years and this growth will grow unabated. 2.  Most of this growth has come from the Middle East but Asia and Europe are not that far behind.

Analysis

With the exception of the US, most of the rest of the world uses LPG and the demand has been steadily growing. The US still runs on oil and natural gas for most of its needs which is the reason for both oil and to a certain extent natural gas prices shooting through the roof. Another reason for the popularity of Natural gas in the US is that it is a cleaner fuel but this popularity might lead to its scarcity over the next 80-100 years.

As we all know, the world only has a limited supply of natural resources and we should be able to use all available resources in a controlled manner. Depending upon one supply only, like in the US may hurt the US economy in the ling run, especially if we are not prepared to use alternative sources of energy.

With natural gas prices peaking, LNG could become a viable alternative for consumers in the US. The US already has extensive pipelines that could be used for LNG distributions albeit not without some issues.

Bottom line, LNG production has been up for several years now and looks like it will continue. The US depends primarily on natural gas but this could change depending upon the prices and the availability of natural gas.
