Analysis of:
Jupiter predicts $32B in online holiday sales | www.retailingtoday.com
This analysis is solely the work of the author. It has not been edited or endorsed by GLG.
Implications: 1) This growth will contribute to slower retail sales at store level.
2) Makes the net an important factor for any and all retailers to join in.
Analysis: The basic driver for this continued growth is the continued increase in both computer ownership and the extension of high speed connections to the internet. These combined with aggressive advertising for product and services on the net, continues to bring large growth to this market. Other factors include easy availability to the net while at work, and the tightening of free time to shop as people continue to spend more hours on the job.
All these factors will stimulate this large growth and should be sustainable for a number of years to come.
