Summary
No more DTC Open Range Who will control Discount Diamond Rough ??
Analysis
Being a member of the jewelry Industry for over 40 years, I now am witness to the end of an era that is over 100 years old. In the 1890'S, Cecil Rhodes and Harry Oppenheimer formed a consortium that controlled over 85% of the worlds diamond production and ruled with an Iron Hand in a Velvet glove. This era started to unravel in the 1980's when Rio Tinto came on line in Australia and they did not use the Diamond Trading Council (DTC) to sell their diamond production throughout the world. Now with so many African Countries controlling their own diamond production, plus other countries, there no longer is one CENTRAL SELLING ORGINAZATION to control the supply and distribution of diamonds worldwide. What is going to happen in the future will be interesting to watch.
