Is Windows 7 a viable replacement for the XP operating system? The XP operating system has been utlized for ten years, it has been proven to be stable, reliable, and virtually, a secure platform. It is the most widely used operating system in the world.
Analysis
Windows 7 was code named by Microsoft as Blackcomb and Vienna. It is the latest version of Microsoft newest, and latest operating systems. This newest operating system still has security holes and bugs too.
Microsoft seem to be experiencing the same, or if more, the initial growing pains it experienced, when XP was released into the market over nine years ago.
Companies are very weary of upgrading to Windows 7 during this time. An initial survey, out of many was conducted to evaluate, if companies would be migrating to Windows 7, and the survey showed, that sixty percent of those companies stated, that they would not be upgrading or migrating to Windows 7 at this time.
Scriptlogic corp also conducted a survey, where ninety four percent, of PC users stated that hey would skip Windows 7 upgrade at this time.
However, Microsoft states, that it's final code has been shipped to PC Manufacturers, and the Windows 7 operating system, is ready for deployment.
Microsoft stated, that it has released over 51 million Enterprise licenses of Windows 7 to its' customers.
Firefox the creator of the Mozilla Internet browser, called Microsoft's Windows 7 anti - competitive.
However, Seagate contends that, they are are the trusted experts in data management solutions for Microsoft in retention, protection, and analysis of electronic information.
Seagate is also a Gold Certified Partner for Windows 7 as well.
Microsoft states, that Windows 7 is much more easier to launch than Vista, and notes that Windows 7 is it's core operating platform.
As we approach the end of this year, only time will tell, if Windows 7 will have the success that XP had over almost a decade ago.
