Analysis
I am an Automotive Dealership Consultant - website: www.AutoAuditHelp.com
I retired from GM on 9/1/95; 31 years with GM & Chevrolet Motor Div.; 14 years prior to retirement I was a GM Auditor of Dealership claims for Sales Incentive & Service Warranty. Now I provide Automotive Dealership Consulting regarding Sales Incentive & Service Warranty claims. I also provide consulting regarding Dealership potential disfranchising by GM. I understand importance of GM doing activity to accomplish becoming the 'New GM' and comply with various situations involved with US Government and acceptance of Billions of dollars regarding Bankruptcy and building of a working, profitable US Automotive Company and Dealerships.
One of GM's procedures is becoming smaller, more efficient Automotive Company, discontinuation of various name vehicles (i.e. Pontiac - Saturn - Hummer), producing and selling Chevrolet (cars & Trucks) - Buick - Cadillac - GMC. Elimination of vehicle production automatically includes discontinuation of those Dealerships; also GM has deciced to dis-franchise other Dealerships for various reasons. My understanding, one of those reasons is a 'poor performing' Dealership.
My suggestion to GM -- advise potential Dealership to be disfranchise reason(s) why this activity is being considered; allow that existing Dealer to see and understand reason(s) why this potential dis-franchising action is being considered towards the Dealership. Allow that Dealer to respond with his feelings regarding this action by GM and possible way reason(s) might be corrected (i.e. improvement of new vehicle sales & service) to the level that would have GM reconsider this action of dis-franchising the Dealership.
I'm confident my Automotive back-ground with GM and educational (MBA from City University in Business Administration & Accounting / Auditing) would be beneficial both to GM and any GM Dealer regarding potential Dealership dis-franchising activity.
