Summary
This model will fail...again. Cannot believe someone would invest in the person (Weikle) that started Skybus... a company that failed within months of startup. At least Donald Burr and Freddie Laker enjoyed years of success before going out of business This is not another Allegiant model...unfortunately...if it were and done by someone else...it just might make it.
Analysis
Why would anyone invest in "Son of Skybus" or Skybus ll when that model failed with months of startup at a time when the economy was stronger? I guess the money in the marketplace is flowing again (which is contrary to what I read and see), because they (apparently) have financing to launch this model on July 13.
This is no Ryanair. Southwest Airlines or even Allegiant. The model is wrong on so many levels. Wrong cities... Lansing, Newark, Toledo and Melbourne...all worse than average in terms of their local economy. Wrong Airplane... (B-737-800) because it is too large for these routes and not even flown by them (but by Miami Air). Wrong time to start an airline... when air travel is down double digits YOY and fuel has risen 67% in less than 2 months.
So help me here what could I possibly be missing? I think we should just take bets on if it will last longer than or less than Skybus!
