Implications: The sales of iPods have been steady to slightly down in the USA, the rest of the world will follow in time. Did Apple fail to spark a new generation of sales?

Analysis: Apple sales in the USA show that the iPod has become a staple product with slowing sales. It was hoped that Apple would at this event provide a new and exciting product to rekindle sales of this mature product. They didn't. You can change the color, you can make it thinner and longer, you can even lower the price a little, but the question still remains what have you really changed.

Much of the Apple community was disappointed that this round did not result in a real new technology or an iPod II, but rather just a small improvement.
