Summary

Will Healthcare reform have to include a cap on damages?
Has defensive medicine caused the escalating costs in Healthcare?

Analysis

Healthcare reform has always been a hot topic for debate & the platform for many politicians.  Many have tried several different approaches to trying to improve receiving quality, affordable medical care.  There are many who insist that the rising cost of Healthcare is directly related to all the malpractice lawsuits, while some link it directly to a profitability margin for the medical care providers!  The white house is pursuing vigorously most avenues in an attempt to find what will work for most, without seriously affecting the economy.  While placing a cap on medical malpractice is certainly not fully off the table it clearly has been diluted from many of the revisions to Healthcare reform. Most of the significant bills before Congress make little to no mention of medical malpractice.  The Federal government has gone so far as to offer incentives to States to improve the medical liability system & reduce related lawsuits without caps on awards. Importantly Healthcare reform is inevitable, just at what price?  Hopefully, not based on the "iffy math".
